Stories born from life, shaped for the screen.
Sofie Khan is a filmmaker who blends sharp storytelling technique with a perspective shaped by her lived experience as a queer, bicultural woman from inner-city Chicago. A graduate of Script Anatomy as well as having served as a writer, producer and director within the LA Director’s Lab, she crafts character-driven narratives that explore identity, culture, and resilience - infused with humor, heart, and a bold point of view. Sofie’s multifaceted background across politics, education, and tech informs her ability to move between genres and build grounded, authentic worlds. As a filmmaker, she gravitates toward underrepresented voices and intergenerational stories, approaching each project with visual intention, cultural specificity, and a deep commitment to collaboration. Whether she’s staging a motel-set dramedy or weaving in moments of magical realism, Sofie creates brave, inclusive sets where actors can play freely and communities can see themselves reflected onscreen.
