Sofie Khan directing on set of Don't Ghost Me with her Director of Photography and Script Supervisor

Sofie Khan is a filmmaker who blends sharp storytelling technique with a perspective shaped by her lived experience as a queer, bicultural woman from inner-city Chicago. A graduate of Script Anatomy as well as having served as a writer, producer and director within the LA Director’s Lab, she crafts character-driven narratives that explore identity, culture, and resilience - infused with humor, heart, and a bold point of view.

Sofie’s multifaceted background across politics, education, and tech informs her ability to move between genres and build grounded, authentic worlds. As a filmmaker, she gravitates towards underrepresented voices and intergenerational stories, approaching each project with visual intention, cultural specificity, and a deep commitment to collaboration.

Whether she’s staging a motel-set dramedy or weaving in moments of magical realism, Sofie creates brave, inclusive sets where actors can play freely and communities can see themselves reflected onscreen. Learn more about Sofie, her process on set , and check out her resume.
